How To Resolve Eircode Mis-Routing
Eircode mis-routing is a recognised issue caused by an inability to adjust the location of an Eircode to work with the normal routing algorithms used in navigation systems. This applies to ALL navigation systems rather than just Google Maps. This issue is recognised by those involved with Eircode and is explained fully in the article here
Though recognised by those involved with Eircode, Department of Communications and Eircode/Capita PLC personnel have chosen not to warn emergency response personnel, 1st responders, delivery drivers or the Public in general in their Public Service Announcement on RTE or in the general social media communications.
If you have checked your Eircode for location AND routing using the guides provided here and found that there is an issue you should report it to Eircode Support and, in the meantime, you can create a Loc8 Code for a point a few meters inside your property entrance from the nearest mapped road. You can do that by clicking on the point using our FREE point8 WebApp (there is no downloading or installing needed - it will run instantly) and then generate a route until the blue line routing guides to your correct entrance point. You can keep clicking on points until this works correctly and then note and use that Loc8 Code;- especially if you need to contact the National Ambulance Service who have fully integrated Loc8 Code into their emergency call, mapping and ambulance navigation systems side by side with Eircode.
Using a Loc8 Code in this way, allows you to move the location of an Eircode to one which is more suitable for navigation.
